If static electricity builds up on process equipment, the energy content of a static discharge can cause fires and\/or explosions in ATEX environments. Grounding objects and components reduces the build-up of electrostatic charges, thus also preventing potential danger. Loading trucks in fire and explosion-prone ATEX environments also poses static electricity risks.
