Bulk handling systems
Bulk handling is more than transshipment alone. With main ports such as Rotterdam and Amsterdam N.M. Heilig is a company based centralised in the middle of Europe for material handling of various crops, minerals, and mined materials. Not surprisingly, we have been developing, engineering and manufacturing bulk handling installations for many years and have become a specialist on bulk handling systems in various industries.

Recycling installations
Turning waste into energy and new products is what the recycling industry (MRF) is all about. Recycling goals have been set higher in the past decades and will surely increase in the years to come. As an engineer and manufacturer of recycling installations N.M. Heilig has been developing different techniques to recover energy and valuable materials from various waste streams.

Conveyor systems
Conveyor systems come in many shapes and sizes. At N.M. Heilig we have been applying conveyor technologies for almost four decades and to many industries. We know that client’s requirements differ and the most practical solution is a tailor-made one, whether part of a complete installation or single units and parts.

Transloading equipment
Bulk materials have a specific need for transloading to ensure an efficient and cost-effective method of transportation. Transloading equipment needs to be manufactured with high-quality materials that resist wear and tear and are robust. For every part of the transloading conveyance system, N.M. Heilig designs and builds customized machinery.

Mobile equipment for bulk materials
In addition to transloading equipment for bulk materials N.M. Heilig also designs and manufactures mobile equipment. Another efficient and cost-effective method of transportation but in a construction that offers flexible employability on many terrains thanks to the options of, for instance, telestack, swiveling chassis, or tracks on the machines.

Storage solutions for bulk handling and recycling industries
For bulk handling and recycling industries many processes require a temporary storage solution, a buffer storage for feeding a production system or transloading. N.M. Heilig designs and supplies customized storage systems such as hoppers, bunkers and silos.

Screening equipment
Screening equipment comes in many shapes and sizes and provides a variety of sorting solutions. At N.M. Heilig we have been applying screening technologies for over four decades and to many industries. We know that client’s requirements differ and the most practical solution for your recycling or bulk handling process is a tailor-made one. Together with our sister company Bezner, also part of the Heilig Group, we can provide our extended expertise in customized screening systems for the recycling industry.

Air separator
In the recycling and bulk handling industry implementing an air separator to the process sorts the materials and separates the lighter from the heavier fractions. Other names for this application are air classifier, wind sifter, and wind shifter. The advantage of (pre-)sorting through an air stream is that it does not require any water and guarantees a high separation efficiency up to 95-99%. N.M. Heilig often manufactures air separators in combination with complete (pre-)sorting installations, particularly for light, airy bulk items in bulk handling and recycling facilities for household waste, paper, cardboard, and plastics.

Industrial mixers for dry bulk goods
For a variety of materials N.M. Heilig offers customized industrial mixers, also referred to as a conical mixer or Nauta mixer, with capacities from 6 liters up to 75,000 liters. We are experienced in designing and manufacturing industrial mixing equipment for powders and pastes for the following industries: food industry, feed industry, pharmaceutical industry and chemical industry. Together with the industrial mixing solutions expertise of Heilig Mixing Technology we manufacture and supply many designs.

Crushing equipment
Crushing equipment can be put to use to create a proper particle size. These machines can be designed and manufactured both stationary and mobile and as an individual unit or implemented in a recycling or bulk handling process. N.M. Heilig offers a wide variety of crushers for applications such as construction and demolition, sand and gravel, granite, ore and coal, aggregates and bottom ash.

Control rooms
Today, mechanical sorting and separating have been developed into sophisticated techniques, that manual or visual inspection is no longer required. However, in some cases, clients prefer to incorporate control rooms or sorting cabins in the recycling process when: Client requires a final inspection in product streams Quality processed materials fluctuate strongly (e.g. contaminants) Limited budget for investment in automation

WASHING SYSTEMS FOR RECYCLING AND BULK HANDLING To wash various materials during the processes of the recycling and bulk handling industry, N.M. Heilig can design, manufacture, and supply a wide variety of washing systems, for instance, washing drums, bucket wheels, hydrasander, hot washers, frictions washers.

Conical mixers (V-mixers)
FOR HIGH-QUALITY MIXING AND BLENDING The conical mixer (also known as V-mixer, conical screw mixer, Nauta mixer and Vrieco Nauta mixer) is known for its outstanding, high-quality mixing and precise operation. The mixing unit takes up little floor space thanks to its conical shape. In addition you will benefit from the total and fluid outflow leaving no residue in the machine and the low shear which mixes fragile materials. The conical mixer is used in many industries for mixing, homogenizing, cooling and heating materials. Industries, such as: the food (grains), feed, chemicals (powders), plastics, and pharmaceutical industry. At Heilig Mixing Technology we manufacture and supply three models: type PL, type VD and type VD2. - Type PL has a capacity of 100 up to 75,000 litres. This model features a screw support at the bottom. - Type VD has a capacity of 10 up to 25,000 litres. This model has no bearing or support at the bottom of the cantilevered mixing screw. This makes cleaning the machine easier. It also provides you with the option to mount a bottom valve for a total outflow of mixed materials, leaving no residues. - Type VD2 has a capacity starting at 300 up to 35.000 litres. This cone blender is manufactured with two mixing screws for short blending processes. It allows lower installation heights and offers the possibility to equip the machine with a large inspection door. We offer various mixing screws for the V-mixer. Each has its own unique features: - Basic mixing screw with a full blade and constant diameter, used in many applications. - Conical mixing screw. - The ribbon, or sanitary screw, can be used for sanitary applications where the product might stick to the screw and forms a high risk. - Wear-resistant deposition welded or coated mixing screw for processing abrasive powders. Vertical ribbon mixers
FOR SHORT BATCH CYCLE TIMES The vertical ribbon mixer (also known as vertical mixer, ribbon blade mixer and ribbon blender machine) features high grades of stainless steel and has a specific design (less high). This mid shear mixer is commonly used in the food industry thanks to the fact that it is extremely easy to clean. The top-driven mixing blade offers a three-dimensional mixing movement which guarantees a high accuracy over a short mixing time with both dry substances and pastes. As opposed to the conical mixer, the ribbon activates the full content creating a more intensive mixing process. Mixing intensity starts at about 15W per kg. The ribbon screw allows for a short mixing time because of the intensive mixing process. In most cases a few minutes is sufficient. Materials that can be mixed in this particular blender are among others: powders, liquids, pastes and doughs. The conical bottom provides an excellent discharge of the mixed materials, and the extra-large inspection hatch makes the vertical ribbon mixer easy accessible thus easy to clean. We can also supply a cost-efficient ribbon mixer designed with a flat bottom. We have a stainless steel test mixer with a capacity of 200 litres with a mixing accuracy to a ratio of 1:100,000 (quality assurance certification by notified body) available for you to try out. Silo mixers
FOR HOMOGENIZES FREE-FLOWING PRODUCTS At Heilig Mixing Technology we often engineer customized solutions. We can design a silo mixer (also known as batch mixer, feed mixer, blending silo and mixing silo) according to your specific requirements. Depending on the product certain mixing specifications apply, for example: agglomerate size, bulk density and volume. Silo mixers are designed to homogenize ‘free-flowing’ batches from 10,000 up to 150,000 litres for various industries (for example: feed, food and chemical industry). FEATURING - conical vessel to avoid product residue after discharging - diameters up to 3 meters - conveying screw in a vertical downpipe - produces mixtures without segregation - low energy consumption - low maintenance In addition to its mixing characteristics, silo mixers are also used to prevent products from segregation during storage between different steps of the production process. A silo mixer can for example store hygroscopic materials. It provides continuous motion restricting normally the materials to agglomerate. As every industry demands various standards we offer additional options to choose from, such as: top and side feeding plates, choice to load from top and/or bottom, fluidization bottom to prevent bridging and designs suitable for drying, cooling and degassing. Screw conveyors (auger conveyors)
The screw conveyor (also known as auger screw conveyor, screw feeder and auger feeder) is available in different sizes. Therefore the screw conveyor can be used in various mixing installations for different techniques. The rotating helical blade transports powder or granular materials horizontally or upwards in the vessel for optimal mixing. We distinguish the following screw conveyors: trough screw conveyors, tubular screw conveyors, and shaftless or axis free screw. Heilig Mixing Technology offers spiral screw conveyors both in open or closed systems varying in: length, diameter, single or double screw conveyor, inclination and steel alloys. Belt conveyors
FOR TRANSPORTING MATERIALS Belt conveyors can be part of the entire mixing installation to convey goods. When you implement belt conveyors into your mixing installation, the transportation of the goods to and from the mixer can be optimised guaranteeing an efficient production process. We offer high-quality conveyor systems to ensure that sensitive materials cannot be damaged. This is of utmost importance in –for example- the food, minerals, and chemical industry. We engineer and manufacture flat belt conveyors and trough-shaped designs for conveying bulk goods as well as finished mixed products. Aero mechanical conveyors
FOR (DELICATE) GRANULATES Aero mechanical conveyors are commonly used to convey granulated materials. An aero mechanical conveyor consists of a tubular design. Inside the tubes run wires with evenly mounted discs. These discs move with a linear speed creating an air stream. When the granulated materials enter the system, the stream of air fluidizes and, subsequently, transports the goods towards the outlet. These types of conveyors are ideal for conveying powders and granulates with various densities and particle sizes for various industries, such as: - seed processing (grass seeds, beet seeds) - food (salt, sugar, rice, cocoa, coffee) - feed (grains, corn) - chemicals (pigments, ceramic powders, polymers) - plastics (PVC powders) A conveyor solution with aero mechanics offers a high throughput with minimal damage to the materials and it prevents particle separation. Elevator conveyors
FOR VERTICAL MATERIAL TRANSPORT Heilig Mixing Technology offers various solutions for transporting goods from the food and pharmaceutical industry. Elevator conveyors are a perfect solution for transporting materials in a vertical direction. We often engineer, manufacture and install customised conveyors as specifications vary and depend on the actual application and material characteristics. In the food sector –for example– systems need to be cleaned according to the Clean In Place (CIP) method, or systems require a robust design that needs to be heat-resistant and explosion-proof. It is also possible to develop a closed conveyor system for optimum dust-control. Tumbling screens
FOR ACCURATE GRADING, SCALPING OR SIZING We offer two types of grading machines. We have sieves that convey the products through a machine using vibrating motors. But we also offer tumbling screens. Tumbler screening machines also convey the product through a machine, but with a circular motion instead. Tumbler screening machines can be built in a configured installation whereas grading machines are often stand-alone units. Tumbling screens enable the materials to pass through the various screening decks. This results in a high quality purification, the result can be compared to labour-intensive manual grading. GRADING VIA TUMBLER SCREENING MACHINES Bulk goods consisting of extreme lightweight and fine particle materials (either dry or moist) can be graded and dewatered into extremely fine fractions. Depending on your specifications we can supply machines with single or multiple decks and with multiple cleaning options. The screens are available in various diameters and mesh sizes. Vibrating screens
FOR SIFTING, SIEVING AND DEAGGLOMERATING Vibrating screens are perfect for sifting, sieving and separating solids, such as: granulates and powders. On top of that, vibrating screens can also be used to separate liquids from solids. Heilig Mixing Technology offers vibrating screens (or vibrating sieves) with a maximum of four sieving decks offering five product fractions. Vibrating screens can also be used as safety sieves or control sieves to remove potential presence of foreign matter or impurities. The central vibrating motor is equipped with adjustable counterweights making sure that the machine moves both vertically and horizontally. The movements can be adjusted according to your wishes. Rotary screens
FOR SIFTING AND SIEVING The centrifugal force of a rotary screen/sieve is perfect for the sifting, sieving and separating of granulates and powders. When the granulates or powders enter the sieving compartment, the variable, rotational forces and sieve (deck) trays split the smaller fractions from the larger ones. The residual materials and contaminants are conveyed through the system and disposed elsewhere. Heilig Mixing Technology can design, engineer and manufacture a centrifugal sieve for various capacities and in various dimensions depending on your requirements. We offer single units, but we can also supply the unit as part of a complete installation. Rotary screens are often used in industries, such as the food, feed, paint, metals, minerals, plastics, pharmaceutical and the chemical industry. Bunkers and silos
FOR STORAGE AND FEEDING In many cases it is necessary to include a bunker or silo in the production process. Sometimes for temporary storage, as a buffer between various processes and machines or to align the dosing of the bulk goods. CUSTOMIZED BUNKERS AND SILOS Heilig Mixing Technology can engineer, design and manufacture bunkers and silos according to your specific requirements. We create stand-alone units, mobile units or fixed units as part of a complete installation. Bunkers and silos are often used as feeding units. In that case we can combine the design with one of our conveyor systems tailored to your needs. Depending on the kind of bulk goods we select the alloy steel grade. As example, for abrasive or heavy duty applications bunkers need to be supplied with an abrasion-resistant coating.
